Evangelism Week 3, 17 August 2025
Reminder
What Is Evangelism?
At its heart, evangelism means helping lead those outside the faith into a relationship with Jesus. It’s not just the role of a gifted few; it’s the privilege and calling of every believer. Evangelism is not about techniques or winning arguments — it’s about relationships.
Evangelism is relational before it is informational. By approaching people with friendship, care, and humility, we create space for trust to grow. It is in the context of a relationship that the gospel can be seen most clearly.
Evangelism 101: A Fresh Perspective
Jesus commanded:
“Go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.”
— Matthew 28:19–20
This is not simply a task list; it’s an invitation to join God’s mission in the world.
The Core Message of the Gospel
Evangelism can feel overwhelming until we remember how simple the message is:
“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.”
— John 3:16
This verse holds the whole story:

- The Small Group & Leader
“How am I inviting others into my growth?”
- Who helps keep me accountable?
- How do I allow my group or leader to speak into my life?
- The Church
“How am I partnering with the church’s environments?”
- Which church environments am I making the most of?
- Where could I take better advantage of opportunities to grow and serve?
✍️ Part 2: The Holy Spirit’s Role – Listening & Responding

- Confronts areas where we need to grow.
- Empowers us to change.
- Provides peace and comfort.
- Guides us with wisdom and discernment.
- Enables us to participate in fruitful ministry.
- Which of these roles have I experienced recently? How?
- Which role of the Spirit do I most need to lean into right now?
- Where might I be resisting the Spirit’s work in me?
🙌 Part 3: Response & Prayer
Look back over your answers.
- Where is my part clear, and where am I depending on others too much?
